Summary of Research Findings: Awareness, Use and Perceptions of KIDS COUNT Among Congressional Staff

This KIDS COUNT Working Paper, authored by the Population Reference Bureau, summarizes the findings of a telephone survey of Congressional staff members commissioned by the Foundation to asses their awareness, use and perceptions of the KIDS COUNT Project. Assessing the Educational Indicators in the KIDS COUNT Data Book

At the request of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Child Trends convened a meeting of experts on August 24, 2006 to advise the Foundation on the current education indicators in the KIDS COUNT Data Book. The experts were asked to consider whether the current indicators should be changed, dropped, replaced with other indicators, or remain the same. County Officials' Perceptions and Use of KIDS COUNT

The Annie E. Casey Foundation asked researchers at The Ohio State University to collect information about county government officials’ views and use of KIDS COUNT programs. To address this concern, survey questions on KIDS COUNT were included in their County Government Survey. This national survey of county governments was sent to all counties in the 45 contiguous states with functioning county-level governments. more >>

Summary of Research Findings: State Legislative Leaders' Perceptions of KIDS COUNT

In 2005, the Annie E. Casey Foundation asked the State Legislative Leaders Foundation to collect information about how the top state legislative leaders view KIDS COUNT and use KIDS COUNT in their work. Overall, state legislative leaders reported that they often use the KIDS COUNT Data Book, they have positive views on the data provided by KIDS COUNT, and they feel the KIDS COUNT initiative has had a significant impact on public awareness and public policy in their state. more >>

Internet-based Children's Data Users Perceptions of KIDS COUNT

In April 2005, Child Trends supported an online survey of its own DataBank users to assess their awareness and assessment of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s KIDS COUNT data products and reports, the Child Indicator Newsletter, and the DataBank itself. Media Coverage of The 2004 KIDS COUNT Data Book

This report details the results of the post-release analysis of media coverage for the 2004 KIDS COUNT Data Book. Promotion of the June 3rd release of the annual Data Book, featuring the “Moving Youth from Risk to Opportunity” essay, generated over 93 million media impressions.
